CARTE BLANCHE

Danish contemporary artists Ann Louise Andersen, Peter Callesen, Jeannette Ehlers, FOS, Lise Harlev, Hesselholdt & Mejlvang, Peter Land, Choki Lindberg, Tina Maria Nielsen and curator Natalia Gutman received 'carte blanche' to create site specific works at the French Embassy in Copenhagen, 2017. The public was invited to visit the embassy, which is located in the historic Thott Palace from 1683. By exploring the role and purpose of an embassy the artists addressed topics such as historical denominators of France and Denmark, diplomacy, the nature of democracy and today's global challenges. Some works were thought-provoking while others were humorous and satirical, encouraging dialogue between the lavish environment and contemporary art.
